Where OVID came from
OVID started behind the chair.
Years of styling, owning salons, and developing products for some of the most recognized brands in haircare showed us the same pattern on repeat.
Hair was changing. Routines were breaking. And the industry’s answer was always the same: buy one more product.
The deeper we looked, the clearer it became. The issue wasn’t effort. It wasn’t access. And it wasn’t a lack of “good” products.
It was a lack of structure.
People were being handed ingredients without instructions. Products without sequence. Hope without a plan. And when those products didn’t deliver, the answer was always to add more. More steps, more bottles, more noise. Never less.
So we stopped following the industry playbook and built what people actually needed: a system that treats hair as a whole, not a symptom.
Why we’re called OVID
The name comes from the Roman poet Ovid, author of Metamorphoses, one of the oldest works ever written about transformation.
His subject was change. Not the comfortable kind. The kind that reshapes you.
That’s what happens when your hair changes. It’s not just cosmetic. It shifts how you feel, how you carry yourself, how you show up. And it deserves a response that’s equal to what you’re going through.
